South Side Dublin Shopping
Grafton Street
The starting point for any shopping excursion on Dublin’s South side would typically begin on Grafton Street. On this street, you will find many of Europe’s key high street retailers, you can enjoy the buskers performing, but it is also home to the iconic Brown Thomas department store (BTs). BTs has served as a popular landmark since 1849 and within it, shoppers can find some of the most famous brands from around the world. Just a few doors up visitors will also find the famous Bewley’s Café that has held a special place in Dubliner’s hearts for over 175 years.
At the top of Grafton Street, you will find the St Stephens Green shopping centre and at the bottom home-grown retailers like Kilkenny Design and Trinity Woollen Mills. In addition, go a few streets back to find Dublin’s newly coined hipster quarter with lots of independent fashion, boutique stores and cafés, with this area anchored by the historic Georges street arcade. Finally, no shopping trip to Dublin would be complete without popping in to Powerscourt Townhouse which hosts a selection of independent boutiques and eateries.
North Side Dublin Shopping
Henry Street
Starting at Dublin’s iconic Spire the heart of retail on the North side of Dublin can be found on Henry Street. Home to some of Ireland’s most loved brands and anchored in the middle by Arnott’s, Ireland’s oldest (opened in 1843) and largest department store. There are two indoor shopping centres, The Ilac Centre and The Jervis Street shopping centre where you will find many of the key high street shops alongside eateries and cafés.
Within walking distance, you will find two large outlets of one of Ireland’s best known retailers Primark, known locally as Penneys! The original store is located on Mary’s Street and opened in 1969. In this shopping district, you are also likely to find street traders and access to an open-air fruit and vegetable market which is one of Dublin’s oldest markets and a landmark on the north side of the city.

The Liberty Market is one of Dublin’s oldest and historic markets established back in 1973. Thomas Street and Meath Street areas are home to a variety of small markets and family-run specialists stores.
